West Bloomfield Township

Lakes, lakes, lakes, and one of metro Detroit's most diverse communities.

About West Bloomfield Township

The lake township of Oakland County, with deep diversity and deeper park space.

West Bloomfield Township is known as the lake township of Oakland County. The municipality contains numerous small and medium-sized lakes, with four anchor lakes (Orchard Lake, Upper Straits Lake, Pine Lake, and Walnut Lake) that shape the residential character. Cass Lake, Pine Lake, and Middle Straits Lake support boating, fishing, and water sports throughout the summer.

The township covers about 28 square miles with roughly 65,888 residents. It is one of metro Detroit's most diverse communities, home to the largest Jewish population in Michigan and a large Chaldean community, with the Chaldean Cultural Center on West Bloomfield's grounds.

Seven school districts technically serve parts of the township, more than any other municipality in Oakland County, but the West Bloomfield School District is the primary district and one of the top public school districts in the country.
